I am honored to be able to have interviewed one of my new recent discovered bands, Any Given Sin. Please check out their music and social media after reading our interview!
From the bands website about me section, here's a little information about them.
"The Maryland-based rock band ANY GIVEN SIN spent much of 2019 turning heads with the release of their single, "Dynamite", which quickly became the #1 most spun song on SiriusXM's Octane. The band soon solidified its position on the channel, landing the coveted 'Accelerator Artist' title, and blazing past some of the biggest names in Rock on their weekly 'BIG UNS Countdown', becoming the #2 Most-Requested song on the channel, as well."
Mandy: Hey guys first off I just want to say thank you for giving me a bit of your time and having this interview with me, I hope you all are doing well.
Mandy: What is the meaning of your band name Any Given Sin and what made you choose it?
Mike C: It's very difficult, especially now with the influx of so many bands on the scene what to come up with a name we like, that's not taken yet still has meaning to us. That took a while...lol. We believe everyone struggles with, falls prey to or indulges in one of the seven deadly sins at some level. Whether you're Mother Theresa or Hitler. One of those sins defines you in some form or fashion. What's your sin? :) Mandy: Another life is one of my favorite songs, there's so much emotion put into the lyrics, what was the inspiration for the song and what do the lyrics mean to you? Vic: Song writing has always been an outlet for me to say the things going on in my own head; that I can have difficulty expressing in any other way. The lyrics for Another Life started out as a poem I had written down years before. The poem was about fighting for/ working towards something to just watch it go up in flames; and how moving on and embracing something new is sometimes the only option we have left. Mandy: Speaking of inspiration, Who are your influences that inspired you to get into music? Vic: I am defiantly a child of the 90's when it comes to rock influences. Sound Garden, Alice in Chains, Rage Against the Machine, Tool the list goes on. But Chris Cornell (RIP) is hands down the reason I wanted to sing in a rock band. Mandy: Right now with the covid19 quarantine/lockdown going on alot of artists are doing some new releases or at home cover songs to help the fans get through this rough time. Are you guys doing anything special during this time? Vic: We are! We do not have a set date for release yet, but in the next few weeks we plan to release a new single. More information to come on that soon! Come visit us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram . Also keep an out on our YouTube channel for a new video that will be available on the release day. Mandy: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why? Mike C: I wish I could filter down to one artist. Don't know that I could because we are all influenced by so many people, but if I had to pick just one (because my answer would be different if I could pick one that has passed) I'm going to say Adele. I'd love to hear that voice to one of our harder edged songs. Mandy: What would you say is the best part about being a musician, and what is the hardest part? Vic: The best part about being a musician is creating something others enjoy with you. It's a great feeling to hear a crowd sing your lyrics to you at a show. The hardest part about being a musician right now is figuring how to weather the pandemic. Many touring bands and the venues and staff that support them are with little to no income as live music is postponed or canceled to keep people safe. Starting back up is also a little nerve racking. You don't want to be the band that did a show too early and infect people all over again. That would be awful. This is kind of uncharted territory, and we just have to make the best of it. Mandy: What message would you like for your music to put out? Mike C: We just hope for our fans to be able to connect to our songs. Many of our songs deal with the darker side of life and are interpretive. We know what it means to us, but it may mean something different to the listener and they can apply it to something in their life, be it positive, negative, happy, sad or inspirational. Mandy: What would you like to say to your fans/future fans? Vic: Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement over the past couple years. We would not be anywhere without all of you and we love you all dearly. Thank You! Mandy: Again I want to thank you for your time and doing this interview with me. I hope you all stay safe and have a wonderful day.
