I found about this band through #hollowintent and absolutely loved them! Please check them out and like their pages after reading the interview 🤘🎶
Mandy: What is the inspiration for your bands name?
The name originated in early 2011, this was the year we started our YouTube channel and began sharing our first original songs. We were brainstorming names with our grandmother, being one of our biggest supporters at the time, and she came up with the name. The name simply illustrates that our goals and dreams are the same, being twin sisters and discovering music together, the two of us started the band together and will always be driven and determined to work towards what we believe in. - Both
Mandy: Who are your biggest influences for your music?
We draw inspiration from many different genres through decades of music. Annabelles biggest influences in music are: Paramore, Blink 182, and Chevelle. As for myself, I'm inspired by: Queen, Catfish and the Bottleman, Nothing but Thieves, and lately, Greta Van Fleet. When we contribute our own individual styles during the writing process it merges into the music that Entangled Dreams produces. - Michaela
Mandy: Who would you like to collaborate with on a song?
One of our favorite groups is Nothing but Thieves, Connor Mason, the lead singer is an incredible vocalist. We would love to sing with him. For Annabelle to do a little guitar work with the rockin guitarists from that group would be just amazing. If we ever got the chance to do a song together it would shake the earth's crust. HAHA I suppose you can see how excited I’d be about this. Additionally, there’s this band local to New York that travelled down to Wilington on tour early 2020, we did a show together. Their name is Fernway and they ROCK, they are an incredible group, they push musical boundaries and their music is so fun, we’d love to collab with them one day too.
Mandy: What is your favorite song you've written and the inspiration behind it?
Our favorite song we’ve ever written... that’s a tough one... Generally our favorite songs are the ones we most recently wrote or released. At the time, for us, we’re very happy with our newest single “Dreaming of the City Lights (In Broad Daylight)” The song was written over 6 months ago, although when we brought it into the studio to record it, the song was brought to the next level with the production done by William Baker of Eye to Eye Records. During this process we felt the same type of excitement as if it were the first day we’d written it. This song takes inspiration from a moment of generosity from a stranger in the crowd at an Entangled Dreams performance. After Michaela’s guitar broke on stage, the audience member reached out and handed her a one hundred dollar bill with the words, “guitar fund” written on it. This kind act inspired the chorus of this song. This song is not only about hoping for bigger and better things, but believing you can achieve those things, believing in yourself, and working towards that. - Both
Mandy: What is the best advice you have been given?
In the music industry there's a lot of differing opinions and advice given to musicians. Over the years the most important advice that has always mattered most to us are the words, “Never give up”. That might sound cliche but this career is not an easy one and it's fueled only by passion, drive, and dedication. That advice is the most honest because it oftentimes comes from fans, strangers, close associates in the business, and family who truly believe in us and our music after seeing what we do. We appreciate that the most. - Both
Mandy: Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety, if so what is your best technique to get rid of it?
It’s not often that I get anxiety before a show, but when it happens, as odd as this sounds, I just remind myself to be in the moment and let the nerves be present. The fact that I’m nervous for this show means that it’s a very big deal and it means a lot to myself and the people in front of me. I remind myself that this is the thing that I live for and I let myself live and breath the anticipation, close my eyes and sing the lyrics I wrote that mean the world to me so that they can mean just the same to whoever's in front of me. - Michaela
Performing is my absolute favorite part of being a musician. I'm never nervous once I’m on stage doing what I love because the crowd fuels my performance and once I'm up there playing it's just pure adrenaline. I do, on the other hand, get anxious the day of, or hours leading up to the show, like anticipation anxiety and to calm that I’d normally just make sure I’m totally prepared for the event and distract myself until it's time to get totally excited!! -Annabelle
Mandy: If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?
Although our genres are different, we’ve always dreamed of opening for Twenty One Pilots. Their lyrics and messages are where we find similarities with the band. We’ve always related to this duo and their dedication to their music career. We love how supportive and tight knit their fans are. Around the time we released our album AFTERTHOUGHT (2017) we often covered Twenty One Pilots Songs at our shows and shared videos on instagram. Twenty One Pilots fans quickly caught onto the covers online and loved them, that’s part of how we gained a lot of exposure that year. When you listen to the AFTERTHOUGHT album, you can hear their musical influence in those songs. The story of how their hard work and dedication got them from hometown stages to Arenas has always inspired us to share the stage with them!
Mandy: You just released a new song, during the quarantine, as a huge music fan music keeps alot of us from being so focused on all the bad. What made you decide to release it at this time or were you already planning to do so?
April 17th was the planned release date. With all that’s happened in the midst of the release, we are really glad we can share music at a time like this. To be able to give people something positive and uplifting to hear during these struggles is important. Music can bring us together in a way, that at this time, we can't be.
Mandy: What message would you like for your music to put out?
We hope to spread positivity and inspiration, oftentimes with the message that one is never alone in what they’re going through. To always look forward and know that there are better days ahead, to dream big and work towards something you believe in.
Mandy: What would you like to say to your fans/future fans?
We wouldn’t be where we are without your support. We love to perform and make music, but sharing that music with you is what brings us the most joy. Seeing what we create have a positive impact on others, is what makes it all worth it. Thank YOU.
